Thermal DesorptionThermal desorption is a powerful tool, offering solutions to many complex sample handling problems in gas chromatography, from sulphides in food products to the desorption of rock and shale. The major types of sample are shown below. The focussing device is the sorbent tube (in single stage) or the secondary trap in a dual stage desorber. The thermal desorption system is a focussing inlet, which will take various types of sample and inject them efficiently into the gas chromatograph.
